Philips 2016 Whipple Supercharged Shelby GT350 Track Pack

Steeda customer Philip has always had a love for American sports car, so it was a natural idea for him to seek out one of the classic Mustang models, the Shelby GT350.

This is what he said about why he chose it:

"For me, the GT350 is the pinnacle of both worlds. It’s precise, but still has that American power especially with a supercharger. The GT350 is a unique package. Some may call it flawed, but to me it has character. It doesn’t behave exactly how it should 100% of the time, and that’s what gives it soul.

People always complain about reliability, but honestly, I don’t want a perfectly reliable car. When people get older, they usually don’t remember their reliable grocery getter, they remember the car that made them smile every time they drove it, even if it came with a bit of spicy uncertainty."

That's an admirable attitude and a great way to embrace the adventure....

And as you can see from the lead photo, Austria based Philip has a lot of awesome mountain roads to carve!

He mainly uses the car for weekend trips and holiday road trips: "I don’t like when cool cars just sit around, so I make sure to actually use it. On top of that, I also track it."

Car development wise, the GT350 might be a great start, but with Steeda, we can always make a good thing better... so what has Philip done with the car so far? And what is planned?

• Steeda clutch-to-slave stainless steel line

• MGW Gen 2 short throw shifter

• BMR motor mount bracket

Philip heroically got stuck into the Whipple install himself as you can see from the pics he sent....

Future mods:
From Philip: "A lot, but first on the list is definitely the stop-the-hop kit. It really needs it!"

So how have the changes affected the car so far, and what has he enjoyed the most... well the answer is both a surprise (for some people) and also obvious....

"The biggest difference by far was definitely the Whipple. The power increase is massive, but what really woke the car up was the torque increase. I honestly didn’t expect it to make such a huge difference, but it definitely surprised me.

The biggest difference from a smaller mod was actually the Steeda clutch spring. I really disliked the two step OEM one, so that upgrade was a lifesaver.

I’m also incredibly happy that I ordered the supercharger through Steeda. The whole process was super simple, and every question I had was answered immediately. Easily some of the best customer service I’ve had."
